Right now i'm in a workshop to learn the "photo graveaure" process - which is from the 1900's and is printed on a copper plate. I'll scan my finished product maybe saturday. I just did the picture of Jesse again. Photography is a magical exchange of sight and process and point of view.

Stuck between a Bed and a Hard Place

I’m up, I’m up, so you can stop yelling. Yeah you, stop yelling. Man what is this on my shirt and why are you yelling at me. Peter says to himself as he is looking down at his bloody hands and side and then the bed, the whole scene unfolds on to him like waking up after a bad dream. There is blood everywhere and the bed is flipped on its side and propped up with a two by four. “What the fuck Peter? What the hell were you doing?” Patty says quite confused and angered.
“Um, I guess…”
“Yeah keep guessing that’ll clean this shit up.”
“Oh my god, what the fuck happened to my room!” Frank yells from across the hall.
Patty and Peter go into his room and the scene opens up like a bad case of deja vu, there is blood everywhere and the bed is flipped up on its side. Frank and Patty look over at Peter who is holding a two by four and is bleeding, a lot. “Do you have a head wound?” asks Frank.
“What the fuck?” says Patty to Peter.
“I . . think . .I . . forgot to brush my teeth, yes.” Peter turns around and walks out of the room. “What?” read across both Frank and Patty's face. Peter starts brushing his teeth and taking his clothes off to get into the shower, both Patty and Frank follow him into the bathroom. “I think your head wound made you retarded Peter, not that you haven’t always been special.” Peter turns on the shower and gets in and starts to wash his hair. “Peter could you tell us what the hell is going on?” Patty pleads with him.
“Should you be in a hospital right now?” says Frank.
“I think he’ll be fine.” Patty says to Frank “Right now I want to know why there’s blood everywhere and my bed’s all fucked up.”
“Well..” says Peter.
“Oh this better be good.”
“I was eating at this new restaurant in town, and I ordered a cheeseburger and fries but I forgot to get a drink. So I got back up and while I was walking up to the counter this person stands up in front of me holding his throat. The man’s face was turning colors and people around me started losing it. The man was choking, and I immediately knew what to do so I started giving him the Heimlich maneuver, but the man would not stop choking on the piece of food that was stuck in his throat. “I need a knife and a pen I yelled to the growing crowd around me.” I then proceeded on performing a tracheotomy right there in the restaurant. I made an incision in the man’s throat and then tore the top and bottom off the pen and plunged it into the incision creating an…..”
“Hold it. Hold up. That’s an episode of ER,” exclaims Patty.
“What? No.”
“Oh yeah, that’s an episode of ER.”
“Yeah that totally is an episode of ER, great show.” Says Frank
“Totally great show,” agrees Peter.
“Guys seriously? What really happened Peter?” says Patty
“Oh wait, the restaurant was part of a grocery store and I was on my way out after seeing a man talking about choking and….”
Peter gets a little fuzzy on this part because on his way out of the grocery store Peter was stuck by a car, but due to his concussion He doesn’t quite remember it clearly. “I must have forgotten something because I went back into the grocery store.” Peter wandered back in after the accident and didn’t hear the store clerk asking him if he was OK. He proceeded, dazed, across the store and through the isles until he heard what he thought to be a box of Wheaties trying to tell him something. “Psst, hey dude, come over here.”
“What?” says the bleeding and confused head trauma victim. “How did you get so small and stuck in that box?”
“Its easy man, I’m rich, and you can do it too. It all has to do with your REM cycle man.”
“Huh?”
“How you sleep, man it’s easy.”
Peter then sees himself putting his bed into position and sees his dreams come true. “That is fucked, man,” says Frank.
“Yeah I have no idea how I’m supposed to take that,” complains Patty.
“So do you think that Daryl Strawberry actually sleeps like that?” says Frank.
“Well I’m assuming so,” Peter replies.
“I hate you guys” Patty says as she leaves the bathroom.

well not really, but im doing alright. Kenneth Patchen has a great quote that is really hard to explain completely. he says "I want to be a carpet in a cathouse" which is interesting because it could be taken as i want to be born in the shit of it. It is talking about being underneath something mainly. Being probably covered in layers of hair or at least that is what i have always picture when thinking of this quote. I've got one "I want to be the sewers of Venice." Your full of shit but is french/pretentious/and probably insanely hot (by hot i mean attractive).

the first scupture assignment this year was supposed to be about massive amounts of non traditional material converted out of its own context and into the realm of sculpture. Well before we even heard of this assignment me and dave planned on making a monster that would turn into a performance piece. Well i guess everything that led up to showing the piece was also part of the performance. We kept it a secret form our class what we were doing and didnt even tell our friends the punchline. we wanted everyone to experience the rediculousness of it. We wanted to set a tone of somewhat saying that we are willing to go way overboard with this class and don't plan on bullshitting. Fuck bullshit. well that is a little harsh but you know we kind of wanted to do this and we committed to it no matter how rediculous it was going to be and I'm glad we stuck to it, You have to finish your ideas to realize if they are good or bad. I wish it was a little more epic but you know it isnt that easy of a thing to pull off.

im writing like crazy these days trying to finish up the script for Tsustamagusie, which I think it is turning out pretty good though. It is probably my most serious effort, I wanted to make a good movie and not just a spoof.

I've been writing a bunch of songs lately that have been clicking with everyone so i think that the new Hooks record is going to be really tight and not forced. Its important not to force yourself to create something big (and i dont mean like we're awesome and are going to destroy the world with our tunes, i just mean that i really like these last few songs alot).

great scotts what a crazy affair. Millions of ideas and theories thrwon at me in some sort of circus side show routine. I feel great devouring knowledge like it is something you can feed on and become stronger. I feel like an ass also knowing that i will use this knowledge for good and bad. damn today was a bitch, we partied for Amy's 21st last night and i danced on a bar table. God bars are ridiculous, too many people and no one around with any sense to them. Which is great at some points to just stop thinking and live right in front of you, but damn drinking wears on you. I finished a portfolio print today and my bank acount says $10.81. our first track off the new recording is almost done and we just recorded drums for 4 more songs and wrote 2 brand new songs besides those.

Cartoons are really relaxing i feel and some even make you think and contemplate ideas. I am watching Black Lagoon right now and it is surprisingly amazing. Action, adventure and reason, very great combination. The first episode kind of sucked but almost all intros to anything are slow and not as good, but it is needed. I am waiting for the 13th episode to load right now so this post was just to use my time while waiting. Sweet release.

isaac says Mono already used oragami in the inside of one of their albums, but you know what fuck Mono. Im pretty sure the paper crane as an idea has been done many times, but we're talking about the shape of energy. I dont think anyone who has used this widely known symbol of origami animals, was talking about the transfer of energy through physics. All i'm saying is "never back down" (sorry inside joke, but you get it). the idea is air tight and it even has really funny points to it. Dave was talking about when the crane dies and goes back to a sheet of paper when another animal is made out of it, that animal still has the creases from the crane. man just think about it.
the triangle has also been used before so i hope i am not ripping anyone off by stating it points at the heavens while being grounded by earth (yes even more symbolism, chris this is your chance to shine your art history upon us).

i think our new album should be called "the shape of energy". The concept is that energy can neither be destroyed or created, only the shape of energy can be destroyed. It is about music and energy relating in cycles of birth, death, and rebirth. Everything dies and then comes back in a new form and shape, we are going to reference old soul, country, pop, and old indie rock (and oh yes old indie rock exists try cap n'jazz motherfuckers). "the shape of energy" is the collision of references and rebirth of music into our selves to revive a new enery all together.
